Wellington ‘La Cave’ Chenin Blanc 2018

Wellington Wines ‘La Cave’ Chenin Blanc 2018

Winemaking

The grapes were hand-picked early morning at 23 degrees Balling. Grapes were harvested from one vineyard block of 27-year-old bush vines. The wine was fermented in new French oak barrels and aged in the same barrels for 12 months.

Tasting Notes

The golden straw colour predicts rich tones of butterscotch and cinnamon sticks underpinned by mellow stone fruit notes. The soft and round palate is balanced with a crisp acidity that lifts the lingering wood spice and buttered toast flavours.

Special Note

Our flagship range celebrates the early years of winemaking when wines were stored in caves during maturation and the recent discovery of a series of caves below our very own cellar. The grapes for the wines are meticulously hand-selected from the very best vineyard blocks and we gently handle the grapes in the cellar with minimal disruption. The range consists of a Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Cape Blend and Shiraz, with our red wines matured in small first-fill French oak barrels before being bottled.
