Wellington Wines
The Wellington wine region in South Africa is home to 80% of the vine nurseries that supply the South African wine industry with grafted, phylloxera-resistant rootstock. Their very own tagline, ‘Wellington Wines – where wines are born’ celebrates the very soil that grow and nurture the industry’s and their own vines.
Wellington Wines (PTY) Ltd was established in 2013 when the three cellars, Wellington Co-operative, Bovlei Co-operative and Wamakersvalley Wines, merged. However, the history dates back to 1906 and 1907 when Wellington Co-operative Winery and Bovlei Co-operative were established respectively. Wamakersvalley Wines was founded in 1941 and it was the accomplishments and passion for wine and for the growth of the Wellington Wine industry that the three cellars shared, that led to the merger.
Today they continue to build on the legacy and vision of their founders in creating wines of excellence. Their 56 members across Wellington and neighbouring areas Swartland, Riebeek, Hermon and Paarl, work closely with their winemakers and viticulturists, to ensure only the best grapes are grown and hand-selected for their outstanding quality.
