Avondale ‘Navitas’ Rhône blend 2010

Avondale Estate ‘Navitas’ Rhône blend 2010

Winemaking

Navitas is made from 60% Syrah, 27% Mourvedre and 13% Grenache grapes from organically-cultivated 20-year-old vines with a low yield of 5 tons per hectare of high quality fruit. Hand-picked at 23-24º Balling, grapes underwent natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks or whole bunch fermentation. Fermentation peaks at 30˚ Celsius, followed by post-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation and maturation occurred in 600-litre French Oak barrels.
