Carmen Stevens ‘Nemrac’ Bordeaux Blend 2022
Winemaking
The Nemrac fruit is all handpicked and berry sorted to ensure all the fruit are in perfect condition before the fermentation is initiated. All batches are individually fermented to ensure the purest expression of each varietal. We amplify the varietal expression and flavours with specific winemaking extraction technics in the cellar. Our aim is always to showcase the natural sweet edge of each varietal, fused with the varietal express. The individual varietals are matured in French oak barrels for 15 months, blended, and matured for an additional 3 months. The final blend consists of 13% new French oak with the balance matured in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels.
Tasting Notes
Displays a deep, dark color and an inviting nose of black currant, blueberry, and dark chocolate, seamlessly integrating savory cigar box notes. The palate opens smooth and ripe, led by expressive Cabernet Sauvignon with cassis and sweet berry mid-palate flavors. A refined tannin structure adds elegance and weight, balanced by refreshing limey acidity. This complex wine offers phenolic depth and ripe fruit richness, promising both immediate appeal and graceful aging potential. This blend exemplifies Carmen Stevens’ skill in crafting layered and sophisticated Bordeaux-style wines with structure and finesse.
