Lozärn Wines Malbec 2023

Lozärn Malbec 2023

Winemaking

Planted in 2018 on the typical Karoo weathered clay soil of the Robertson Wine Valley, this cultivar can easily bear large bunches. During the summer, the vines are carefully managed to ensure the harvest of fully matured bunches. It’s also the first red cultivar of the season to come into the cellar. Matured in 1-3 fill barrels for 12 months (10 % new wood).

Tasting Notes

This Malbec matures 12 months in selected first to third-fill French oak barrels, imparting finesse with gentle oak influence. The nose reveals an inviting bouquet of red cherries, ripe berries, and subtle cranberry, brightened by herbal nuances. The palate unfolds layers of juicy red fruit complemented by hints of leather, spice, and oak. Silky tannins provide structure and the finish lingers with vibrant balance and elegance.
