Wellington ‘Duke’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Wellington Wines ‘Duke’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Winemaking

Grapes, from specially selected vineyards, were picked at optimum ripeness. After de-stalking and crushing, the juice was fermented on the skins at 25°C, until it was dry. Regular pump-overs during fermentation ensured optimal colour extraction. The free-run portion was matured in oak barrels for 12 months.

Tasting Notes

Shows an inviting plum-red color with top notes of blackberry, ripe prunes, tomato leaf, graphite dust, and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied on the palate, fine granular tannins provide excellent support to a plush fruit spectrum. The wine is juicy and accessible with balanced acidity and flavors of red cherry and roasted coffee bean. The finish is dry, elegant, and lingers gracefully, making it a refined expression of Wellington terroir and winemaking.
