Bosman ‘Adama’ Red Blend 2022

Bosman ‘Adama’ Red Blend 2022

Winemaking

Selected pockets from our best vineyards grown on the rippling contours high up on the Groenberg near Wellington. All seven components of this innovative blend have been vinified separately to preserve and express the unique characteristics of each varietal. The wines were matured in French oak barrels for 10 months, of which 15% was new oak. This well-orchestrated regime creates a harmonious, elegantly structured wine.

Shiraz 47%; Cinsaut 14%; Mourvedre 10% Grenache Noir 10%; Nero d`Avola 7%; Tempranillo 6%; Durif 6%

Tasting Notes

The wines were matured in French oak barrels for 10 months, of which 15% was new oak. Deep ruby fading to crimson at the edges. Raspberry and prune aromas are supported by a mix of cinnamon, white pepper and light mocha tones, with a gentle hint of leather. Ripe cherries, plums and dark chocolate on a generous palate.

Special Notes

Adama, which means ‘from the soil’, was the nickname of Adam Appollis, the legendary patriarch of families who have been growing vines and making wine with the Bosman family over many generations. Today these same employees own a 26% share in the entire agribusiness and land.

The Adama Red is our best expression of a red blend and affirms our belief that ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’. Supplemented with wine grape varietals that excel in decomposed granite soils and abundant summer sun, this is a Shiraz-based blend. Its quality proves that diversity makes us more complete.
